Once
or twice in every decade there comes a singer influenced by
the rich vocal heritage of decades past. Just as Billie
Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Dinah Washington and Ester Phillips
touched our lives through their incomparable gift of song,
here and now comes another: Sandra Kaye.
Born in Dallas, Texas, Sandra Kaye grew up singing gospel
music and was often the featured young vocalist in church
socials and choirs. Her professional career was jump started
by winning an amateur contest at the West End Cabaret Dallas
in 1986.
In 1991 and 1992 Sandra performed for the Duke Ellington
Birthday Celebration in conjunction with the Forth Worth
Jazz Society. In 1994 she performed at the Hall of State in
Dallas and in 1997 was featured artist for the Beaux Arts
Ball at the Dallas Museum of Art.
Sandra has been the opening act or performed on stage with
such notables as; David (Fathead) Newman, Onzy Matthews,
Shelley Carrol, Brad Leali, Roy Hargrove, Monty Alexander,
Dr. Dwight Dickerson, Michael Carr, Dionne Warwick, Roger
Boykin, Claude Johnson, Carl Patterson, Joe Johnson, Al
Dupree Johnny Taylor, Marchel Ivery, James Clay, Yarbrough
and Peoples, George Tallifierro, (formerly of the Marcels),
The Platters, The Drifters, Tanya Tucker, Antonio Fargas and
the famed comedians, George Wallace and Shucky Ducky.
Vocalist Sandra Kaye has been delighting area audiences for
years with her invocation of the spirits of greats like
Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan singing classics like
"Summertime" and "Someone To Watch Over Me."

Dennis Noday Big Band Returns to Christine's

Christine's is keeping it's promise to be THE hottest jazz
music venue in South Florida.
We are excited and proud to announce the Dennis Noday Big
Band DUE TO OVERWHELMING REQUEST will be back to
perform the first Tuesday of the month starting on September 2nd!
Dennis Noday and his spectacular band of 18 extraordinary
talented musicians thrilled a standing room only crowd at
Christine's through two encores! Make sure to get your
reservations now because it was a sold out event!
Happy Hour is 5-7 PM.
Dinner service starts at 6:00 PM.
Big Band starts its performance at 8:00 PM.
$10 music cover goes directly to the band.

Classically trained Dennis Noday played Lead Trumpet and
Flugelhorn in both Stan Kenton and Maynard Ferguson
Orchestras for a combined total of ten years. He recorded
five albums with Kenton and four with Ferguson. He has also
recorded television sound tracks for Gunsmoke, Quincy,
Hawaii Five-O and Incredible Hulk along with successful
Broadway musicals such as A Chorus Line, Sweeney Todd and
Chicago.
Dennis finally realized his life-long ambition as leader of
his own band at its debut performance debut in Fort
Lauderdale in 1995. Dennis proudly assembled such talents as
Jim Hayward, former lead alto saxophonist for the U.S. Navy
Commodores; baritone sax and bass clarinetist, Mike Brignola,
formerly with the Woody Herman's Orchestra for 23 years,
trombonist Russ Freeland who has recorded with Jaco
Pastorius, Barbra Streisand, Bill Chase and Andy Gibb, and
14 other talented musicians playing trumpet, sax, trombone,
piano and drums.
